Affiliate Program
Let others promote your products and earn commissions on every sale they refer. Set up a complete affiliate program without any third-party tools.
How it works
Sellvy's built-in affiliate system lets you recruit partners (affiliates) who promote your products using unique referral links. When someone clicks an affiliate's link and makes a purchase, the affiliate earns a commission.
- You enable the affiliate program and set your commission rates.
- Affiliates sign up through your store's affiliate page.
- Each affiliate gets a unique referral link.
- When a customer arrives through a referral link and buys something, the affiliate earns a commission.
- You pay out commissions based on your configured payout schedule.
Setting up your affiliate program
To enable affiliates:
- Go to Settings → Affiliates in your dashboard.
- Toggle the affiliate program to Enabled.
- Configure your default commission rate and type (see below).
- Choose an approval mode and tracking duration.
- Save your settings.
Once enabled, an “Affiliate Program” link appears on your storefront where potential affiliates can sign up.
Commission types
Choose how affiliates are compensated for their referrals:
Percentage commission
The affiliate earns a percentage of each sale they refer. For example, a 15% commission on a $40.00 sale pays the affiliate $6.00. This is the most common commission type and scales naturally with your product prices.
Fixed amount commission
The affiliate earns a flat dollar amount per sale, regardless of the order total. For example, you might offer $5.00 per referral. This gives affiliates predictable earnings and gives you predictable costs.
Approval modes
Control who can become an affiliate for your store:
Automatic approval
Anyone who signs up through your affiliate page is immediately approved and can start referring. Best for maximizing affiliate reach quickly.
Manual approval
Affiliate applications go to a queue for your review. You can approve or reject each application from your dashboard. Best for curating a quality affiliate network and preventing abuse.
Tracking duration (cookie window)
The tracking duration determines how long after clicking a referral link the affiliate still gets credit for a sale. For example, with a 30-day tracking window:
- •Customer clicks a referral link on March 1.
- •Customer comes back and buys on March 20 — the affiliate earns commission.
- •Customer comes back and buys on April 5 — the affiliate does not earn commission (outside the 30-day window).
You can set the tracking duration to any number of days. Common choices are 30, 60, or 90 days. A longer window is more attractive to affiliates but means you pay commissions on purchases further removed from the original referral.
Payout methods
When an affiliate accumulates enough in commissions, you pay them through one of the supported payout methods:
- •PayPal— Send payouts to the affiliate's PayPal email.
- •Bank transfer — Direct deposit to the affiliate's bank account.
- •Cryptocurrency — Pay commissions in BTC, ETH, or stablecoins to the affiliate's wallet address.
- •Store credit — Give affiliates credit to spend in your store instead of a cash payout.
Set a minimum payout threshold (e.g., $25.00) to avoid processing many small payouts. Affiliates can request a payout once they reach the threshold.
Per-product commission rates
While the default commission rate applies to all products, you can override it on a per-product basis. This is useful when:
- •You have high-margin products where you can afford a higher commission to incentivize affiliates.
- •You have low-margin products where the default rate would eat into your profits.
- •You want to exclude certain products from the affiliate program entirely (set commission to 0%).
To set per-product rates, go to the product editor and find the Affiliate Commission section. Leave it blank to use the default rate.
Managing your affiliates
View and manage all your affiliates from the Affiliates page in your dashboard. For each affiliate, you can see:
- •Total referral clicks
- •Number of successful conversions (sales)
- •Conversion rate
- •Total revenue generated
- •Commissions earned (pending and paid)
- •Payout history
You can deactivate an affiliate at any time if you suspect abuse or if the partnership is no longer working out. Deactivated affiliates lose access to their referral link and cannot earn new commissions.
Tips for a successful affiliate program
Offer competitive rates. Most digital product affiliate programs offer 15-30% commission. Going below 10% makes it hard to attract quality affiliates.
Provide marketing assets. Give your affiliates banners, product images, and pre-written copy they can use in their promotions. The easier you make it, the more they will promote.
Pay promptly. Nothing kills an affiliate program faster than late or unreliable payouts. Set a regular payout schedule (e.g., monthly) and stick to it.
Communicate regularly. Keep your affiliates informed about new products, upcoming sales, and any changes to commission rates. Engaged affiliates promote more.
