Setting Up Payments
Connect your preferred payment methods so customers can pay with credit cards, PayPal, CashApp, or cryptocurrency.
Overview
Sellvy supports multiple payment processors so you can accept payments however your customers prefer to pay. All payment settings are managed from Settings → Payments in your dashboard.
You can enable as many payment methods as you like. Customers will see all enabled methods at checkout and choose the one they prefer.
Connecting Stripe
Stripe is the recommended payment method for accepting credit and debit cards. Customers are redirected to a secure Stripe Checkout page to complete their purchase.
To connect Stripe:
- Go to Settings → Payments in your dashboard.
- Click Connect Stripe. You will be redirected to Stripe to authorize your account.
- If you do not have a Stripe account, you can create one during the connection flow. Stripe will ask for your business details and bank account for payouts.
- Once connected, you will be redirected back to Sellvy. Your Stripe status will show as “Connected” with a green indicator.
How it works: When a customer pays with a card, funds go directly to your Stripe account. Sellvy takes a small platform fee (varies by plan: 5% Free, 2% Pro, 0% Business) which is deducted automatically from each transaction.
Configuring PayPal
Sellvy supports PayPal Friends & Family payments. This is a manual confirmation flow where the customer sends payment directly to your PayPal account.
To set up PayPal:
- Go to Settings → Payments and find the PayPal section.
- Enter your PayPal email address.
- Toggle PayPal to enabled.
When a customer selects PayPal at checkout, they are shown your PayPal email and a unique order code. The customer sends payment via PayPal F&F with the order code in the notes. You then confirm the payment from your dashboard to complete the order.
Setting up CashApp
CashApp works similarly to PayPal — it is a manual confirmation flow.
To set up CashApp:
- Go to Settings → Payments and find the CashApp section.
- Enter your CashApp tag (e.g., $YourName).
- Toggle CashApp to enabled.
Customers see your CashApp tag at checkout and send payment with the order code in the notes. You confirm payment from the order detail page in your dashboard.
Cryptocurrency payments
Sellvy also supports cryptocurrency payments through SellvyPay, accepting 14 coins across 10 blockchains including BTC, ETH, LTC, SOL, USDT, USDC, DOGE, BNB, XRP, TRX, MATIC, and XMR. Crypto setup is covered in a separate guide. See the Cryptocurrency Payments guide for full setup instructions.
Payment settings
Beyond connecting processors, you can configure several payment-related settings:
Billing details collection
Choose whether to require billing name, address, or phone number at checkout. Some sellers need this for tax compliance; others prefer a minimal checkout for faster conversion.
VAT / Tax collection
Enable VAT collection to automatically calculate and add tax based on the customer's location. You can set your tax rate, choose which countries to charge tax in, and decide whether to display prices as tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive.
Minimum order amount
Set a minimum purchase amount across your store. Orders below this threshold will not be accepted. Useful for preventing micro transactions that incur disproportionate processing fees.
Billing descriptor
The billing descriptor is the name that appears on your customer's bank or credit card statement. By default, it shows “Sellvy” but you can set it to your store name or brand name so customers recognize the charge. Keep it under 22 characters.
Platform fees
Sellvy charges a platform fee on each transaction that varies by plan:
| Plan | Platform Fee |
|---|---|
| Free | 5% per transaction |
| Pro | 2% per transaction |
| Business | 0% per transaction |
For Stripe payments, the platform fee is deducted automatically from each transaction. For cryptocurrency payments, fees are deducted from your prepaid fee balance. See the Cryptocurrency Payments guide for details on the fee balance system.
